In an effort to honor the youth we serve, we select volunteers who want to help the lives of the children we serve and

advocate to fulfill our motto, every child deserves a childhood.

 

PROJECT ELF/ Ongoing SLC Resource Room Volunteer: ********Must apply no later than October 5th!!!!*****

  • Receiving/Sorting/Organizing/Putting away/Loading donations during busy holiday season (and maintaining resource rooms during the remainder of the year).
  • Must be reliable, organized, detail-oriented, able to lift 30-50lbs, on your feet for entire 4hr shift, 1-3x a week. take direction with ease, work with minimal supervision, proactive attitude, patient amidst chaos.
    • One 4 hour shift Monday through Friday
      •  Morning shift: 10am-2pm
      •  Swing shift: 2pm-6pm
  • Must be available during Project Elf time frame --- Mid Sept-Jan 31st (with Dec 24-Jan 5 off). 
  • Must be willing to commit at least 6 months.
  • Must be 18 years or older, attend orientation.
  • Must have fingerprint cards and pass BCI.

JourneyUP Mentor Project (JUMP) Volunteer Mentor -- serving young adults ages 17-24-- 

  • Become a friend and positive influence in the life of a young adult formerly in foster care or facing homelessness and help them overcome barriers to success!! We hope that through JUMP we can connect young people with positive adult role models to travel along with them in their journey of life.
  • Must be reliable and consistent. Research shows that when a young person has a caring consistent adult in their life, they are more likely to make positive life decisions and more successful.  
  • Must be willing to commit at least 1 year.
  • Must be willing to give 6-8 hrs a month.
  • Must be at least 25 years or older, attend orientation.
  • Must have fingerprint cards and pass BCI.

THE CHRISTMAS BOX HOUSE RESIDENTIAL FLOOR ASSISTANT (serving ages 0-11):

  • Work directly with youth and The Christmas Box House staff helping with homework, playtime, getting ready for dinner/bed, cooking, cleaning, organizing, etc. 
  • Must be 18 years or older
  • Must be willing to commit at least 6 months.
  • Must have fingerprint cards and pass BCI. Multitasker, great at entertaining children, leading group games, playing tag, etc. Proactive attitude, patient amidst chaos, sets good example and able to uphold boundaries.  
    • Monday - Sunday 4:00pm – 6:00pm
    • Saturday & Sunday 6:00pm – 8:00pm
